2.Works : Death of a Salesman, 1949 ( won the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Awards 3 times. The Crucible, 1953 ( won the Hopwood Award ) transformed into film.1953 showed at Broadway.
Death of a Salesman is the tragedy of Willy Loman, who attempts to realize in his own way the American Dream-to live happily and affluently- by becoming a successful and well-liked salesman, but who ends his life bankrupt when the curtain descends.
1. Willy is getting old and is having mental problems 2. Biff gets back home and tries unsuccessfully to raise money to start a business 3. Biff then realizes that his family have been lying to themselves their entire lives 4. Biff tries to show the truth to Willy, who refuses to face the reality that his son is a failure. 5. Willy starts drifting into the past again, reliving the moment when Biff discovered his affair in Boston. 6. Biff manages to make his family understand that he can’t live up to his dad’s unrealistic expectations 7. Willy realizes that Biff still loves him but he can’t get past the his own life is a failure 8. Willy fails again to see the point and kills himself so his son can have insurance money 9. Linda is still under the delusion and wonders why no one came to his funeral. 10. Biff continues to see through his family’s lies and wants to be a better man who is honest with himself. 11.
